I’ve fished out to the furthest east of Roatan only accessible by boat, toward Guanaja. It is among the wildest places I’ve fished in Central America. Bone and Permit fishing is incredible, mostly wading. The guide we used was the descendent of pirates who came there in the 1600’s, and when you hear them speak the English is like old English. We saw old stone pirate emplacements, as well as people who were associated with the drug trade. Also fished very close to an area where an old ship full of treasure was found. The memories of this place will last a lifetime.
