Want to catch big bass?

How about really big bass? Striper fishing rivers in the south during the summer can be off the hook but it can also be challenging. Those big bruisers can get pretty damned selective and you a pattern that will get them moving.

Nobody knows this game better than Garner Reed. Today Garner is going to share a pattern he developed for catching big striped bass and spotted bass on the Etowah River. He calls it Garners White Trash and it gets the job done.

Watch the video and learn to tie this great bass fly.

  1. Great stuff man! I need it because this is the only mentorship I get. Not a whole lot of fly fishing going on around here on the lower part of the Coosa. I’ll take all I can get.

  2. From a tying video production standpoint, this has to be one of the best. Short, to the point, nice rhythm, clearly stated materials list. no nervous blather or wasted finger tips. Keep it up.

I’ll tie and fish this pattern in the marsh this Spring when the herring are running and the stripers are hungry.

  3. Will be staying at Chatham Bar on Cape Cod for 4 days in September. Interested in hearing about flies and strategy to have an opportunity to cast flies to feeding stripers.
