Kirk Deeter’s View on Fly Fishing being a sport.

I’ve always had a hard time stomaching people that bash others who believe it’s absurd to view fly fishing a sport. The way I look at it, everyone has the right to their own opinion and they shouldn’t be mocked if they happen to be standing on the side of the fence that’s less popular. After all, fly fishing is loved by each of us for so many different reasons, and we shouldn’t let our personal views get in the way of judging others. We all love fly fishing and for that simple fact, we should always show respect whether or not we see eye to eye. In the end, that’s all that matters. Check out Deeter’s great post on how a Father and son fly fishing relationship has changed his view on this subject. Great post Kirk, I enjoyed reading it.

CO South Platte Snowpack Report

For all of you fly fishers out there that have been worried about this seasons fly fishing opportunities in Colorado, rest assured things are heading back in the right direction. Heavy snowfall during the second half of April has snowpack levels in the South Platte region at 95%. That’s good news for many of you who have plans to travel to CO this summer. 1. Cool stuff Kent. I’ll be using those videos for new patterns and ideas for sure.
I could care less what people want to call fly fishing. Sport, hobby, habit…. whatever, I LOVE IT! And that story about Joey is just another reason why I enjoy it so much.
    BTW…..baby coming soon! Later dude!

    • Justin,

Thanks man, glad you liked the links today. I bet your wife is due any day now. Get ready for a day you’ll never forget that will mean more to you than the biggest trout you’ve brought to hand.

  2. Wow! Thank you very much, I appreciate you getting the word out so that more people can use these videos.

Both John Wolter, owner of Anglers in Boise and Ryan Spillers, who is a great friend and one of the best tiers I know, tied some of the flies on the videos.

    Happy Tying,

    Erik Moncada
