Here’s an excellent streamer tutorial from Simon Gawesworth.

This video, part of RIO’s “How To” series, features two of my favorite people. Simon Gawesworth and Rob “Silent Bob” Parkins throw streamers on the South Fork and Simon does an excellent job imparting serious wisdom.

Simon covers virtually every technique you need to be a successful meat chucker. If you’re looking to up your streamer game, this is a great place to start.

Watch this video and learn to fish streamers.

  1. Very good tips, the only thing I would add is fish the fly. Don’t simply just cast at the bank and retrieve. Although he touches on this briefly, all too often after 4-5 hours of throwing a streamer we sometimes become lethargic if you will. Every retrieve should be a concentrated effort. I really like the fact that he mentions keeping an eye on the river downstream, this is also a very important tactic as you don’t want to waste a cast on water that doesn’t look like it would hold fish when you have a giant boulder with a tail out pool coming up in 10′.
