Kanektok River, Alaska / Deschutes River Steelhead / Dean River Chinook and Steelhead for as little as $2000 / person!

I’m excited to have three amazing trips to offer in 2015. Each is a unique adventure. Each a bucket list location and each a chance to catch the fish of a lifetime. I’ve spent the last several years researching these locations and feel really confident that we have the best possible trips planned. These fly fishing adventures are not to be missed!

Join me on one of these great trips and I’ll do everything in my power to make it an experience to remember. You’ll meet and fish with other members of the Gink and Gasoline community and go home with new friends, new skills and memories that will last forever. Gink and Gasoline trips are a blast!

Alaska West Lodge, July 26 – Aug 8, 2015

Alaska West is a remote but comfortable camp deep in western Alaska. On the banks of the Kanektok River, it offers some of the best fly fishing on the planet for rainbow trout, dolly varden, grayling and all five species of Pacific salmon. Our week in July offers amazing trout fishing. Generally the flesh bite is just coming on strong which means the biggest fish in the river are out in force where we can target them. The mouse bite is typically strong as well, offering the most exciting trout fishing possible.

AK-Trip

In addition to epic trout fishing, this is one of the few times of the year you can do the salmon slam, catching all five species of salmon. The chum salmon should be in full swing and highly aggressive and the first silvers hitting the river hot and bothered. This week was epic last year and I expect a repeat performance.

And it’s a deal! Alaska West is offering a Father / Son special this week. Bring your son (of any age) for half price! I can’t think of a better way to spend some quality time with your family. Of course, you are welcome on your own or with a friend.

AK-Trip-2

The guides at Alaska West are some of the best in the business. Many of them long-term veterans, and all a pleasure to fish with. The camp is beautiful and comfortable, the food is awesome and the company outstanding. This is truly a trip you will never forget.

Deschutes river Steelhead Camp: Sept 14th-20th

This is the real deal. Run class four rapids in a jet sled, sleep under the stars on the banks of Oregon’s beautiful Deschutes River and swing flies to aggressive steelhead. Fish hard from sun up to sun down with a relaxing mid-day siesta. Tell fishing stories and go home feeling really alive. It doesn’t get any better.

Deschutes_Panorama1

The Deschutes is known for its eager summer run steelhead. It’s one of the best places anywhere for catching steelhead on floating lines and even dry flies. The canyon is beautiful and there’s lots of wildlife, including big horn sheep. It’s the kind of steelheading that spoils you.

My good friend Jeff Hickman runs this trip and he does it right. It’s deluxe tent camping with chef-prepared meals, roomy tents, comfy cots and even a shower. As rustic as you need, as comfortable as you like.

Desc-Trip

Not a Spey caster? This trip is definitely for you. Jeff is one of the best Spey instructors there is. He taught me, in fact. I took a good friend who did not Spey cast on this trip last year and in two hours Jeff had him holding his first wild steelhead, on a swung fly. You should have heard him whooping! This is truly one of the best fishing trips I’ve ever been on. I highly recommend it.

It’s reasonably priced, too.

Chinook Salmon and Steelhead on the legendary Dean River, British Colombia

Kimsquit Bay Lodge: June 26th-July 3rd (Friday-Friday)

Formerly Blackwell’s, the Kimsquit Bay Lodge is one of only four lodges on this highly controlled Canadian National Treasure. The Dean River is the anadromous angler’s paradise. It simply has to be experienced to be believed.

Known as the home of the strongest migrating fish in North America, the Dean packs a punch. If the idea of melting your drag sounds appealing, this trip is for you. These powerful fish are like none you’ve felt before.

Dean-1

Our week is traditionally prime Chinook season. We will be fishing to bright, heavy salmon right out of the salt. In some cases, literally a hundred yards from saltwater. There is also the good chance at some early Dean River Steelhead.

Dean-2

The Dean is one of the wildest and most beautiful rivers I’ve ever fished. Rushing water, rugged mountains and a sky you can touch with the tip of your rod. This river is famous for a reason. The Kimsquit Bay Lodge is cozy and intimate, housing a close group of only six anglers. Now owned and personally managed by Jeff Hickman and his wife Kathryn, it’s a home away from home.
